Message From The Principal

"Lebone College of Emergency Care (LCOE) is a Gauteng Provincial Department of Health training College under the Directive of the Gauteng Emergency Medical Services (EMS). LCOEC is where Gauteng EMS operational staff, and community are transformed and developed in order to meet the health needs of the Gauteng Province. It was established in the 1980’s as the Transvaal Provincial Administration Ambulance College offering in-service and vocational specific educational courses at the Pretoria and Gauteng Colleges. After 1994, and with the reconceptualization of Emergency Medical Services and Training the two Colleges merged to form one and the College was renamed the Gauteng Ambulance Training College (GATC), still offering vocational courses. With further developments in EMS Training and Education, in 2000 the GATC was renamed LCOEC as we know it today.""

Our Philosophy

The College is of the view that: Every human being has unique physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs with a complex set of values and beliefs. They are responsible for their own well-being while being entitled to basic human rights as set out in the South African Constitution. Being an emergency care provider requires a sense of caring while providing health services to all members of the community.
EMC education is focused on acquiring the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to provide quality healthcare. Students are prepared for lifelong learning. The student must be actively involved in the learning process, developing reflective, analytic, critical, innovative thinking skills which enable the individual to creatively practice independently or as a member of the multi-professional health care team.
